Babbling Night

Dear diary,

I have an empty space in my heart. Don't know exactly to explain this void. I'm craving, wanting something that I don't have. Daydreaming, fantasy, always better than reality.
I haven't rest really good lately. Indy's upper teeth are sprouting and she'll wake up 3-4 times at night. Sometimes I feel exhausted cause this little girl is a little eating machine ... I'm still nursing, and sure enough I don't get my REM sleep. Oh, baby ... I will enjoy you as much as joy can overflow me for the mere touch of your chubbiness. I know I'm babbling with non sense right now, it's 3 AM, I'm drinking my yummy chocolate and gotta to work tomorrow. I just heard the "ehhg ..." She wakes up, .. again .. for the 4th time.

Obsession

I think I'm obsessed with work. It's unbelievable how much work that I have. Sometimes I think how I decide on people's life everyday. How my action affects their future, hope, despair.
I can't stop thinking about work even when I'm at home .. it's so inefficient the way it is. I think i'm stealing the time that I should focus with my children. ooh, i'm telling myself "They don't pay you to think like this" Stop it. Just stop it. It just works.

The eyes of my children

I was reading "Three Little Pigs" for bedtime stories. Words by words coming out of my mouth, then I look up to my audience. Two pairs of big bright eyes staring at me. My heart stops. Those beautiful eyes are mine, both equally beautiful and yet different, the eyes of my children .. looking at me. I'm so blessed.

Beauty really comes in all sizes.

Without Fear

Lately I've been contemplating. As much as I want to write on this blog or my children's blogs, I can't seem to find the time to do it. It's only after 1 AM when everybody's tucked in bed, then I can spare me some "me" time. And sometimes writing is not on the top of my list anymore.

But anyhow I've been thinking about this. Anton just had a surgery (Oct 15) and I had c-section on Aug 16. So we both pretty much injured parents right now who have to take care of 2 young kids. We can't pick up Dylan anymore, well I tried and then my incision hurt like hell. Certainly not for anton who just got the fresh cut.

Anton was worried that he can't get back to work sooner. He's worried that he might lose his job if he's taking too much time off. I told him he shouldn't be worried, cause he got skills and he's good. Worst case scenario, he'd find another job.

When I told him not to worry, it just occured to me .. How easy life is if you live without fear.
I'm not talking about my surrounding, but mentality, inside.

Saat kita tidak punya rasa takut, pikiran kita tenang.

Takut kecapekan, takut kewalahan ..
Setelah dirasakan lagi, takut atau nggak takut, proses kehidupan itu tetap akan berjalan kok.

True Love

My ideal view of true love is well, ideal. True love means it's tingling all over when you see the one. It has to be romantic, heart wrenching moment. It supposes to take my breath away.

Over the year, I accept what I had, have and don't have in regards of love.
I still have my ideality and therefore resentment for what I could've, would've and should've.

Do you know how your mind justify your opinion regardless of others? But when the right words come out, you don't have any more place to argue the essence of truth that it brings.

An email came from mom today.
This is what it says:

- HOW TO DANCE IN THE RAIN

It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80's arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb.



He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.

I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound.



On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.

While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry.



The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's Disease. As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late.

He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now. I was surprised, and asked him, 'And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?'

He smiled as he patted my hand and said, 'She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is.'


I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought, 'That is the kind of love I want in my life.'

True love is neither physical, nor romantic.
True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.

The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have. I hope you share this with someone you care about. I just did.

Not romantic? ... I think it is romantic.

I wasn't thinking too much about true love when I read this. But I was thinking about my son, the one who's been getting on my nerve and driving me to the brink of sanity. Then my husband, the one who's not perfect nor romantic but always responsible in supporting this family. Then my baby girl, the one who just came to this world and fully depend on my presence from the moment she opens her eyes till she closes them. And mom, who just came here to be on my side during the labor. And papa, my father in law, who made sure there was always food when I got home. and more ...

TRUE LOVE IS AN ACCEPTANCE OF ALL THAT IS, HAS BEEN, WILL BE AND WILL NOT BE.

To accept it as it is.

Discipline

What is more important? Now that my son is growing up more, I feel like totally lost on being a parent. I have to teach him to be a good person and nurturing him to let his emotional and physical grow, plus maintaining the balance of loving and discipline.
At this moment I'm totally lost. I feel like I don't have a guide yet for this stage of parenting skill. The baby also adds up to the total lost time to yet learn this new skill.
Sometimes when I'm mad at Dylan for messing stuff, I have this kinda out of body experience (or simply awareness) that in the next second, the decision that I'm gonna make will effect his emotional intelligence.

Am I going to get mad?
Am I going to stay cool?
Am I going to pretend it's not happening?

I usually get mad (because I think he needs to know that he's doing something wrong)OR ... I leave it off (because I think I'm tired and it's not worth the fighting).
However as I'm typing this right now, I realize that getting mad is certainly not the type of "discipline" that I'm aiming for him, rather than a form of destruction.

I want him to learn to do things properly, and while I'm trying to teach him that, I suppose I should learn to carry myself in front of him. The way I behave will significantly set an example how he will respond later on in life.

Because discipline is not the same as getting mad.
Discipline needs persistence, it's not the path of least resistance.
What a tough job motherhood is.

Thank God for writing, ... it certainly clears my mind :)

dear mama,

udah beberapa hari terakhir ini aku ngerasa buteeek banget dikintil Dylan terus.
He doesn't even give me 5 minutes alone. He's always around me, ngomyang terus, let's go mama ... let's go mama .... mama this ... mama that.

My heart aches with wonder. And that's why ... life has so many different faces. When one doesn't seem to measure up to your standard, listen & look closely elsewhere. It's the moment that will go away, but the memory lingers.

Yah gue obrak abrik lagi itu resume .. habis kesel ah, ngirim segitu banyak tapi gak dapet2 juga. Mungkin karena target audience nya salah kali ya. Kayaknya emang kalo bikin resume itu harus disesuaikan dengan target market/industri. jadi ada bebrapa versi gitu.

New place, New start

June 1st, 2007.
We leave NY in the morning. Everything is ready to pack and we're off to JFK. Goodbye New York. We had so many memories here, it was splendid. I got married and had baby here. Now I have my own family, it's time to move on to try another place.

The plane is landing in Tampa finally. Our drive to home is not as strange as the first time I came here. Funnily or amazingly, it feels so familiar. Like home. Yes, it is our home now.

Coming with a lot of stuff. We take pictures. An hour later our first delivery of DHL comes. What a perfect time! We love our new apt. Andung loves it too. It's so convinient to everywhere and the atmosphere is so relaxing. A lot of trees, there's a little lake with papa-mama-and baby duckies on that pond.

Our first night, we sleep on the floor. well, carpet actually.

My husband said oh it's like Bob marley's song.

" I don't mind sleeping on the floor, as long as we live under the same roof "

haha, I said .. oh, how romantic. He said, .. it's Bob marley ... yeah honey, that works too.
